Dear Friends / Members,
The beauty of the word “Association” does not just go with a formal group of people registered for a purpose, it is a common thread which binds us all together; in our case being erstwhile GTBians. Interestingly, we have had more time together outside than during GTB days. This is the very reason we have all come together again from across geographies and myriad careers.
The GTBIANS Welfare Association was formed to re establish the Camaraderie and to support one another with the hope to bring back the lost glory of GTB as “Reconnected for Life”.
Your Association was formally registered on 6th Oct 2020 with The Registrar of Societies , Ranga Reddy, Government of Telangana, vide Regd Number 882 of 2020. The Executive Committee was formed with Mr Job Xavier as President, Mr MVS Nageswara Rao – Vice President, Mr G Rama Mohana Rao – General Secretary, Mr Lalpet Haribabu – Joint Secretary, Mr V Ramesh Babu – Treasurer and Mr V B Malleswara Rao and Mr Naveen Kumar Jain as Executive Members.
The Association has as on date 10 Life Members and 115 regular members. The participation needs to be improved to bring in all the GTBIANS in the days to come.
Though the Association was formed during the pandemic , your Executive Committee used to meet virtually at regular intervals to make the structure, bring in more ideas for increasing the Membership base, conduct few Activities for the Welfare of the Society /Members of its Association. Some activities were initiated, some got taken off and some of the ideas were dropped due to non-availability of suitable and viable services offered by the external agencies.
1. Membership : Your Association has now reached a base of 10 Life Members including a special contribution of Rs.1 lac from Ramesh Gelli Foundation and Rs 50000 by a Customer from Chennai who was referred by Mr JVS Chetty and 115 as regular Members. It was decided to keep a nominal membership fees of Rs.1000/- and subscription of Rs.25000/- for Life Members and Rs.1200/- for regular members for the year 2020-21 (till 31st March 2021). Now that we have stepped into FY 2021-22, renewal subscription was called for and the Association is in receipt of renewal fees from only 15 members.

3. Website of GTBWA : For the purpose of showcasing the Association activities, ideas, initiatives and walk down the eGTB memory lane, website has been created as “gtbianswelfareassociation.org”. This website has been the brainchild of Mr MVS Nageswara Rao and Mr Manoj Jaiswal. Here, we have to mention the Passion and Ownership of Mr Manoj Jaiswal in getting the Website created and he has been supporting in updating website from time to time.
4. Insurance Committee : A small sub group had been formed with an intention to cover Health through Insurance for all the Members of the Association including their families. The Committee comprised of Mr Lalpet Haribabu, Mr Srinivas Kommu, Hyderabad and Mr K V Jayaraj , Kolkata and sought advice from Mr Srikant Kandikonda, Gurugram and Mr TRL Rao, Axis Bank, Hyderabad. Several Insurers were contacted and provided necessary data pertaining to members as per their pre requisite to arrive at the premia , coverage etc. Though many Insurance Companies did show interest in the beginning , a proper scheme / policy could not be structured keeping the type of membership mix of the Association viz., relationship of members with Association is not similar to Employee and Employer, age was a constraint for few senior members as coverage from day 1 could not be possible etc.
Considering this structure, few Insurance companies did offer some policies but with very high premium taking into account medical costs of the pandemic. This was not be economically viable. In view of the same, the proposal for Group Health Insurance has been dropped for the time being.
5. Social Cause : GTBIANS Welfare Association has taken up an initiative to contribute for the welfare of the underprivileged sections of the society. As part of the same, a Donation of Rs.10,000 (worth food items) was contributed to an NGO named Amma Aasara Foundation (Old Age Home at Hyderabad).
Also, a another contribution of Rs10,000/- was earmarked for an Orphanage and activity was not conducting due to Lockdowns. Considering the Financial position, It was subsequently felt to restrict the activities within the members of GTBIANS.
Any such further donations can be carried upon review of Financial position and also considering various interests of the Members.
6. Achievers Club : With a view to encourage talent among the GTBIANS and their spouses/ children / grand children, it has been decided to Launch “Achievers Club” to recognize and reward talented individuals in the field of education ,sports, social service, art, innovation etc.. A sub committee has been formed with Mr Lalpet Haribabu, Ms Vijaya Sreehari , Mr Srikant Kalluri and Mr Swaroop Pallapothu.
In lieu of the same , the Association will re initiate this activity from the month of July 2021 with few changes like including nominations from Non Members
7. Wellness Package : As you are all aware that the country is going through the 2nd Wave of Covid over and above the recent Pandemic has made us rethink the value of life, our family and our associations with other people. It has brought us closer and members have been supporting each other in their best possible way to fight this ominous situation befalling mankind. Your Association has taken a small initiative to commend GTBIANS who have emerged victorious in fighting this deadly virus.
As a gesture of our gratitude to your fortitude and blessings from Almighty , we have curated a small Wellness Package (delivered at their doorstep) which we hope will assist you on the road to recovery.
GTBIANS Welfare Association tearfully bade a farewell to some of our colleagues , friends and offers its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of GTBIANs who we lost to Covid or other illnesses.
Association shall be connected (virtually) at the earliest with all the members / non members to discuss other issues, incubate more ideas for Welfare activities and so on. Look forward to see your Association growing its membership base, conducting more activities in the interests of Members and stay long lasting.
